They got to paint a pirate and make a sword out of newspaper. They also met many pirates. Black beard and Mary Reed. The kids sat and listened to the pirates tell stories of their lives and were able to ask questions. They got to participate in a battle and walk in a pirate parade and pretend to shoot a gun.

Learning numbers with Bingo

I decided to play Bingo to help Sydney and Kenny learn to recolonize numbers and letters. Daniel was a big helper with his sister and brother, showing them the ones that I called. It was a fun way to learn and the best part is no one knew it was "school" because we were having such a great time. Sydney won the first game and Daniel won the next 3 in a row. Kenny gave up after the first game and just played with the "chips".

Homeschooling in PJ's

Does anyone else do it differently? Well we are about a 50/50, PJ's/clothes type of school. On this morning the kids asked me if they could go to the pool since it opened on April 15th and I said yes after we finished school. So exactly at 7:22am the kids sat down to begin school to finish early for enough pool time. We normal don't start until after 9:30am.. Its interesting that when they want to do something they will start school early.. Normally I am begging them to get started.. lol.

Painting like Giotto

In Classical we have been learning about some very famous artists. Today we tried to replicate one of Giotto's paintings. The kids thought it was neat that Giotto used dead bugs as paint colors. We just used water colors. Its amazing his paintings still exists. They had fun.

Angel Oak

This was an outing that we did as after school one day. We live near a cool place called Angel Oak. Which is an Oak tree believed to be between 900-1500 years old. It is beautiful. The kids wish you could climb all over but it has survived this long because you are not allowed. They had fun running around the tree and realizing how small they were compared to the tree. Stefan took me here when we were just dating.
