Field Trip: Homeland Creamery

We had fun at the field trip to the Homeland Creamery. We got to go on a hayride to see how big the farm was and to see how the farm runs. The kids got to watch a baby cow(calf) take a bottle and even pretend to milk a cow. Sydney would not try it. Of course the best part was tasting the freshly made ice cream at the end.

Field Trip:Alpaca Farm,Lewisville, NC

We were blessed to be invited to a real Alpaca Farm in Lewisville, NC. It was so neat. It was owned by a sweet family. They raise Alpaca for their hair. The animals were a bit overwhelmed by the number of kids on the fieldtrip. I think over 40, but they were very spooked. Daniel attempted to feed them a snack, which they love carrots. We then learned about their fur and how the shear them. They invited us back next April to help in the shearing process. Daniel is excited to go back.

Field Trip: Butterfly Farm

We are blessed to have a butterfly farm right here in High Point, NC. We went as a family field trip for Kenny's birthday. Sydney and Daniel got to participate in the teaching portion of the tour. What was the biggest surprise during our visit was that Sydney was scared of the butterflies. Daniel loved them and as you can see from the pictures they loved him. Kenny wanted to hold them his self, but his hands quickly tried to close and squeeze the butterfly so we didn't let him and he wasn't too happy about it. All in all it was a great family trip.

Homeschool Blog

I wanted to start a homeschool blog to document my teaching adventures.
Background. I was called by God to homeschool our son Daniel last year for Kindergarden and his sister Sydney in 2yr preschool. It was a hard realization that God was going to use me to teach my children, as I have no degree or teaching experience. But I had faith that if God called He would equip me and that became my motto for the year. I am about to start my 2nd year of homeschooling and I am excited to just relax and have fun learning.

So come along on our journey together.
